I haven’t posted on here in a while, I know, but that’s because not much has been going on. I’ve started the outline for a new book and finally finished the character sheets I’ve been working on but nothing terribly interesting. I had no idea how long publishing takes but I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end. The next step is a cover reveal so please look forward to that!
As a thank you for reading and your patience, I’d like to share a sexy story with you! Unlike the Christmas story, this one is definitely for adults and is not work safe, so exercise caution around kids and your boss (unless they’re into it!). And whether you have a partner or not, I hope it inspires you to get up to some Valentine’s mischief of your own!
…And Juliet the Sun
Decided to get in a few more edits on The Detective’s Brother before turning it over to a real editor. You know, like how you clean your house before the cleaning lady comes so she doesn’t think you’re a total slob.
Anyway, part of editing means completely going through the manuscript with a fine tooth comb looking for typos and slip ups that you may not have noticed while you were writing. And boy did I find a ton of stuff that escaped my first pass. Last night I finished making all the changes, stepped back and looked at the computer, and got really sad.
I always get sad after I finish a story. You commit everything to writing it, spend time with the characters and really get to know them, live in the world, know everything about it, and then it’s over. You have to say goodbye and come out into the real world and it’s hard.
It’s not like you can’t just go back and read it over. If that feels too narcissistic, you can do it under the guise of another edit. It’s just hard to say goodbye sometimes.
Maybe I’ll write a short about the characters once it’s been published for awhile. I love these two idiots.
It’s been a little while since I posted but I bring with me a little Christmas gift, so I hope you’ll forgive me! It’s a short little story about a detective and a Christmas tree, and it introduces a couple of characters from my upcoming novel, The Detective’s Brother from Sinnful eBooks. I hope you like it and that it gets you excited to read more of my work.
I hope to post more short stories here every now and then. They’ll likely be one-offs of ten pages or less, perfect for enjoying on your lunch break or before bed. Fair warning, though, some of them might be a little steamy. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know when they’re NSFW! In the meantime…
The Christmas Tree
Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
Now that the contract has been signed I can officially announce that I have signed with Sinnful Ebooks! My historical romance, The Detective’s Brother, will be published through them soon. They’re a new publishing house based in Canada and although they only have a few authors now, everyone starts somewhere!
I’m looking forward to publishing this book so people can read it and fall in love with the characters as much as I have. I hope lots of people read and enjoy it because I have two other historicals set in the same world and I’d like to get them out there. The more romance in the world the better, right?
Keep checking back here for release dates, a cover reveal and more info about my new book. Maybe I’ll even have a little bit of a teaser! You can also follow me on Twitter @becca_el or like my (just created) Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/RebeccaLovellBooks. I’ll be posting things as soon as I know them and I hope you’re looking forward to these huge changes as much as I am!
Now that I’ve started seriously sending out my work to small publishers, I figured it was time to make a site. I’ve been rejected by a lot of agents so I thought I’d try the direct route. I’m nervous and excited at the same time and I plan on sharing everything I can about the process.
Since I do most of my writing from a beat up netbook with no reliable wifi, most of these posts will be written on my iPad. Any way I can write, I will! I honestly can’t imagine not writing, I’ve been doing it so long, so I’m not gonna let a little thing like this stop me.
I’ll try to update this blog regularly but not on any particular schedule so if you want the latest, please subscribe and get new posts sent directly to your email. Convenient!
And if anyone wants to spring for a new laptop for me I would LOVE one.
