Leaves Book Signing

img_4680I had an amazing time at the book signing on Saturday! Leaves is a cute little tea shop in the Near Southside area of Fort Worth, which is becoming more and more artsy and fun. I was excited to sign books but also excited to meet other local authors.

My table mates were Michelle Marlow, Wanda Means, and Mike Baldwin, an eclectic group if ever there was one; multi-genre, memoir, children’s book, and historical romance. Yup, I’m the nerd.

I was relieved that people showed up and bought my books. As a newer author (with anxiety) I’m always terrified of being rejected but everyone seemed really nice! I sold all the copies of Sam that they had on the shelf and they had to restock. Which, awesome.

Leaves also has some of the best tea ever. They gave all the authors one free tea of our choice and after smelling Wanda’s butterscotch tea there was no question about which one we’d all pick. As a sweet tea enthusiast, I rarely drink unsweetened tea but this one didn’t even need sweetener! It was very butterscotch’s and nice, and I would love to have more. It would probably be fantastic as a latte!

I didn’t have room to set up all my stuff but the most important stuff was on display, which was really all that mattered. I was expecting to just display The Search for Sam but this worked fine. I felt a little over-prepared armed with my promo cards, business cards and business card holder, but I wasn’t sure what to expect.

At the end of our time, there was a book reading by the other authors and while I am far too nervous to do a reading, I enjoyed hearing the others. In fact, I bought Wanda’s memoir and subscribed to her podcast because I was so blown away by her reading. Look for a review soon because…wow.

All in all, I had a great time. I’m looking forward to going again next year if they’ll have me, and maybe the Fort Worth BookFest too!

I Broke The Top 100!

Well, this was unexpected! The Search For Sam came out Tuesday as planned and I had an awesome party! It was well attended, people engaged my posts, and my friends had fun too. I figured with my mindblowing number of preorders and that party, it couldn’t get any better.

I was wrong.

Wednesday I checked my stats and discovered that I had made it into the top 100 in one of my categories! My rank crept steadily up until Thursday morning when it peaked at #60, far higher than I ever hoped as a new author.

I posted immediately in my planning group and all the ladies, some of whom are bestselling authors, congratulated me on it! It’s small potatoes compared to them but they were so kind about it. I’m so glad I met them all.

I got another unexpected surprise today at work when I opened my locker after surgery (hence the extra post).

A tiny cake! It’s actually a huge cupcake but the fact that they are proud enough of me to celebrate my accomplishment means a lot to me.

I am so lucky that my family, friends, and work are all so supportive of my writing. When I was growing up, some members of my family said I would never be successful doing it, so I chose not to pursue my English major. While I regret it, I do love my job and I never would have met these wonderful people otherwise.

I’ve got a plan of action for my Christmas novel’s release so I hope I’ll go even higher next time!

The Legacy’s Origin by Dawn Brower

DB_TheLegacysOrigin_EL_HiRes

What makes a person a witch?

For those living in sixteenth century Scotland the very word witch is terrifying. Everyone is afraid of witches, both to be accused of one, and to be cursed by one. In a series of events beyond their control one family faces their ultimate fear and the consequences they can’t escape.

The very idea of witchcraft becomes all too real for the Dalais family. Caitrìona Dalais Guaire, Sorcha Dalais Creag, and Niall Dalais are torn from their homes and put on trial. Their very lives are at stake, and everything points to their eventual demise.

In an act of desperation one of them arranges for the children to be secreted away to safety. Only time will tell if they are successful and if their legacy will live on…

This is the first book in our Enduring Legacy series and it tells the story of the original three magical siblings. It is from this book that everything else flows, and while it’s not essential to read it to enjoy the series, I highly recommend it. Dawn has done an amazing job creating a world that I’m thrilled to be a part of, and I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s books. The Legacy’s Origin kicks off the series, with the next book by Amanda Mariel available in September. I look forward to seeing you all in the world of the Dalais family!

Preorder The Search For Sam Today!

img_3670

Today’s the big day! You can preorder The Search For Sam today! Unlike my other two books, you can buy this one at any of your favorite retailers! So if you want to read about Tilly and Jacob, but you have a Nook or Kobo reader I’ve got you covered.

This is the first time I’ve been part of a series before and I hope I’ve done the Dalais family justice. The only thing I ever did that was remotely similar was in college when we were given a shared world in which to write stories. It was so much fun that I wanted to try and do something similar with a friend but unfortunately we didn’t get too far past the planning phase. This series gave me a lot more freedom and I had such a great time writing it, so I hope you’ll enjoy it and the other books in the series.

I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Enduring Legacy series with so many amazing and talented women, and I can’t wait to read all the books myself. The next book coming out after The Legacy’s Origin is Amanda Mariel’s One Enchanted Kiss, and you can preorder it right now at any retailer!

My friends who prefer Nook or Kobo formats – or just about any other format under the sun – can also preorder it using the links here:

Also, today is the last day you can get Drowned History for free! Tomorrow the price goes up to $1.99. Still a great price but getting a free book is even better, right?

Only a Rogue Knows – Now on Sale!

onlyarogueknows_mediumIt’s Tuesday, so you know what that means! Tacos? Yes, that too. Today’s a special Tuesday, though, because it’s the release day for Only a Rogue Knows!

Cordelia Whittemore went from being the daughter of a successful businessman to nobility when she married Lord Arthur Whittemore, and is looking forward to her new life and starting a family.

All of that comes crashing down around her when she discovers her husband having an affair, and finds that he wants to divorce her as soon as possible. The only snag is that his ailing father’s will requires them to remain married or Arthur – and by extension, Cordelia – will lose everything.

At her sister’s urging, Cordelia takes up piano again and uses her music as an escape, hoping every day that she’ll be free one day to find someone who truly loves her.

When Arthur employs solicitor Victor Pembroke to find a way to get around the conditions of his father’s will, Cordelia sees more than just an opportunity to be free of the Whittemore estate. From the moment they meet, she knows that Victor is the man she wants to be with in every possible way.

Tragedy strikes at a party hosted by Lord and Lady Whittemore, and it’s up to Victor to keep Cordelia safe before her husband’s past threatens both of their futures.

Originally part of the Every Rogue’s Heart box set, this is a revised and expanded edition whose heart is the same while having enough new material to be worth buying again. Plus, look at that cover!

The Search For Sam Cover Reveal

RL_TheSearchForSam_EL_MediumI am extremely excited to reveal some news I’ve been sitting on for quite a while!

This fall, 13 amazing authors will be bringing you a series of magical love stories! The Enduring Legacy series follows the descendants of three siblings with magical powers, and I’m over the moon with happiness that I’m one of the authors in the series. Take a look at the cover of my book, The Search For Sam!

This gorgeous cover was created by Victoria Miller, and the other covers in the series all have a similar feel so they’ll look beautiful on your shelf if you buy the paperbacks. Take a look below to see all the covers!

What is The Search for Sam about? Well…

Four hundred years ago, Sorcha Dalais Creag and her siblings were put to death on charges of witchcraft but their children survived to carry on the Dalais bloodline and pass on the magical gifts they possessed.

Tilly Dallas and her grandmother Delphine live a quiet life creating herbal medicines and helping neighbors with their gift of Empathy, until Sam Beauvoir goes missing, the latest victim in a string of children’s disappearances. Jacob Pierce refuses to give up hope that he will be able to bring the children home alive. He’ll need Tilly’s help to convince the families of the missing children to trust him.

The Enduring Legacy series kicks off June 19th with The Legacy’s Origin, followed by One Enchanted Kiss on September 4th, with another release every Tuesday for 13 weeks. The Search For Sam will be available September 18th, and preorders will start very soon. I hope you will enjoy reading about Tilly and Jacob as much as I have enjoyed writing them!

Non-Stop

This year is going to be really huge for me. I had a book release in March, another coming out next month, and another pair of projects for later in the year.

My boss told me the other day that he’s impressed that I’m so prolific. I explained to him that I’d written the majority of Drowned History a few years ago and only polished it at the end of last year for release in March. Only a Rogue Knows was written as part of the Every Rogue’s Heart box set, it only needed a bit of expansion and another edit or two. The two I’m working on at the moment are ones I’ve written (or in one case am still writing, the other is almost in edits), so technically I’m only writing two this year, possibly three so I have one for next spring.

I had hoped to release a historical and a contemporary each year, but it seems that this year I’ll be completely focused on historicals. I have a contemporary written that only needs to go for edits, so I suppose I could release that in the spring, and I’m hoping to start my vampire series next year too. I’ve got some Western romances I want to work on too, so I’ll probably do some of that too.

Amusingly enough, I got an amazing idea a few weeks ago for a contemporary about a bodyguard and the son of a mob boss and I’ve spent the last week or so outlining it for later. I’m thinking about doing it for my Camp NaNoWriMo project in July, or possibly November. If it turns out halfway decent, off to editing it goes. I’ve also been thinking about rewriting At Her Pleasure, the pirate novella I wrote last year, as a full length novel. There’s so much I could still write about Bronwyn and Gregory!

This is one of my favorite Ra Ra Riot songs, and one I like to listen to when I want to get pumped up for what’s ahead. Because to quote the song, I am absolutely crushing everything.
